Today Red Hat is announcing the general availability of JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.1 to it’s subscribers and partners via the Red Hat Customer Portal on December 22. With an intuitive, easy to manage user interface and a proven core infrastructure, JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform enables organizations to quickly build dynamic websites in a highly reusable way. Continuing the momentum from the JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0 release earlier this year, this new release incorporates numerous enhancements based directly upon feedback from customers who have already begun deploying the new JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform architecture. Key among these enhancements is the addition of support for WSRP 2.0 (Web Services for Remote Portlets) standards, improved integration with back-end directories, improved performance and broader certification for web browsers.

In addition to the updated JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform, Red Hat is also pleased to announce the availability of a new optional add on;JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform Site Publisher (powered by eXo). Site Publisher is an embedded content authoring, publishing and site management framework which great reduces the cost and complexity of delivering rich, compelling portal sites. Site Publisher is a fully supported extension of the JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform and is available from Red Hat and partners as an additional subscription to JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform. Site Publisher is a demonstration of Red Hat’s continued collaboration with eXo Platform who have created the Site Publisher functionality as an extension of the GateIn community portal project.

Red Hat is also pleased to announce a new training course, JB325, available in February titled “JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform”. The 4-day course covers both JBoss Enterprise Platform Portal 5.1 and the Site Publisher extension. Students develop a complete portal application from the ground up, which includes portal site creation and administration, portlet development, custom skin creation, deploying and configuring WSRP portlets, handling portal migration issues and using the JBoss Portlet Bridge to integrate existing JSF and Seam applications into JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform. Students will also learn the powerful and intuitive capabilities of using Site Publisher to create and manage websites and web content within the context of a portal.
