Think of Red Hat as a technology company that has reinvented itself not just once, but twice in 15 years. All the world's fastest supercomputers now run Linux, so it's no surprise that the US Department of Energy's Summit supercomputer at Oak Ridge National Laboratories runs Linux. The open nature of Red Hat Enterprise Linux allows Oak Ridge researchers to keep pace with the high-performance computing innovations in the Linux kernel while retaining a level of stability and support required for running mission-critical workloads.

Developers need to be able to more quickly and easily create containerized applications. It’s this challenge that the Buildah project, with the release of version 1.0, aims to solve by bringing new innovation to the world of container development. A command line utility, Buildah provides only the basic requirements needed to create or modify Linux container images making it easier to integrate into existing application build pipelines.
