Automation, DevOps and the demands of a multicloud world

An IDC infobrief sponsored by Red Hat and Intel

In May 2018 IDC conducted a European study to assess how enterprise IT management and automation strategies are evolving due to the impact of cloud computing, DevOps, and digital transformation initiatives.

This IDC InfoBrief summarises the key findings from this study with highlights from European respondents.

  • Only 1/3 of EMEA organizations feel confident on their IT infrastructures.
  • More than 60% of EMEA organizations already embrace DevOps, some more advanced than others.
  • Multicloud, API-driven, container-enabled, and open source are critical for business innovation for EMEA enterprises.
  • 65% of mature DevOps users desire multicloud infrastructures that help minimize vendor lock-in or that takes advantage of open source innovation.
2018 marks an important phase in DevOps where EMEA businesses are moving beyond DevOps hype to becoming DevOps-native, and have the technologies and management in place to improve business speed and agility. DevOps ambitions are highest in the Benelux, Nordics, and Central Europe.
