Why enterprise automation matters
What is enterprise automation and why should we care about it? Many organisations have IT automation initiatives but often they are not achieving the benefits expected, either at the technical or business levels. In this talk Aidan looks into what enterprise automation actually is, why organisations are not seeing the expected gains and what are the main building blocks required to achieve "enterprise automation". Aidan Beeson, Solution Sales Specialist, Enterprise Automation, Red Hat |

Customer spotlight: NatWest. Building an enterprise-wide toolchain
NatWest Group has around 8000 engineers in different teams, and part of different business units. Traditionally, the team have made tooling and process choices that were not consistent across the organisation. While this was appropriate for many individuals, it led to increased costs in terms of technology maintenance, and made it harder for people to move between teams.
As part of a wider initiative around automation and transformation. NatWest is building a new toolchain. This takes some of the existing tool such as Ansible, adding new technology and providing a consistent bank-wide development platform. Amongst the tools being trialed and adopted are Red Hat DevSpaces, running on the managed Red Hat OpenShift on AWS, along with a move to GitLab running as a service.
This session highlights the major decisions the bank is making, and how they are working with Red Hat, AWS and GitLab to build an effective and efficient bank-wide toolchain.

Hyper-Automation: The IT-enabler addressing climate change
Software companies face disruption in the near future if their products do not measure and address their impact on climate change. Automation is an IT enabler that can at first reduce costs and improve efficiencies, and secondly achieve environmental externalities by actively contributing to footprint reduction if applied holistically.
The topic of this presentation was conceived as part of an INSEAD course on Strategy in the Age of Digital Disruption with the aim of helping Red Hat's customers reduce their climate footprint via automation. Nikolaos Goulias, Senior Solution Architect, Red Hat |

How Openshift Cloud Services ease and accelerate your Kubernetes journey
Kubernetes as a concept may sound simple, its implementation though its another story. DIY Kubernetes is a dangerous/painful sport that definitely is not tailored for every enterprise as the hassle is not aligned with the point where business value is produced. In this presentation I will speak about Kubernetes to Self Managed Openshift to Fully Managed Openshift, gradually showing the benefits that are gained and how this accelerates the path to the "sweet spot" which is the business value. Georgios Pagiatakis, Portfolio Specialist Solution Architect, Red Hat |

Legacy to Hybrid Cloud data integration
How can hybrid cloud apps securely access existing databases (regardless of location)?
How do I get modern cloud native apps to securely react, or capture events occurring in my existing application database estate?
How do I keep my new hybrid cloud data stores securely in sync with my on prem data stores?
This session will demonstrate the power of Red Hat Applications services running on the OpenShift Platform to securely :-
- Access legacy data residing behind a firewall
- Generate change events from the legacy data into Kafka
- Populate and synchronise a database running on OpenShift with the changes captured

Tactical Edge - Power at the Edge of the network
This session will cover the needs of both defence and wider industry for capabilities at the Edge of the network. Modern requirements mean data needs to be exploited, in the frontline or remote locations, these requirements drive the need to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and analysis to be in the hands of decision makers, not in weeks or months but in minutes in a tent disconnected from the centre.
We will discuss the Excalibur concept which support disconnected but fully capable OpenShift, in a transportable package, fully supported by applications built in the headquarters or Industry." Adrian Keward, Principal Solution Architect, Red Hat |
