We’re proud and honored to be recognized as Software Vendor of the Year at the CIO Today UK 2014 awards, which aims to celebrate companies that have shown outstanding progress over the last year and are delivering on the promise of ‘innovation for tomorrow, today’.

It's been an exciting year at Red Hat. As the worlds of physical, virtual and cloud systems converge, there has never been a more exciting time to be in the business of open source, with open platforms at the core of innovation from the cloud and mobile to big data and social.

In the last few months alone, we celebrated several milestone achievements.

We announced our most ambitious release to date, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, redefining the enterprise operating system and setting the stage for many promising technologies - including Linux Containers - to take off in the enterprise. On the first day of general availability, the release already achieved multiple world record-breaking benchmark results.

We believe that the cloud will be open and hybrid, with use cases spanning on-premise, private cloud and public cloud deployments, and much of our innovation – from Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure, and Red Hat CloudForms, our hybrid cloud management offering, to Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and OpenShift, our award-winning Platform-as-a-Service offering – is driven by enabling our customers’ journey to the cloud. Earlier this year, we acquired eNovance, a leader in OpenStack integration services, and in less than a year, have built the world’s largest ecosystem in support of commercial OpenStack deployments. We also acquired Inktank, the company that delivers Ceph, the leading storage offering for OpenStack.

Our innovation doesn’t rest there. We’re industry leaders in open source middleware with Red Hat JBoss Middleware. Earlier this year we announced Red Hat JBoss BPM Suite 6, incorporating an array of enterprise-grade solutions to all sorts of business automation needs, from integration, to complex events processing, to business resource planning. We’re continuing to revolutionize the way enterprises manage their data, while helping set the open source standard for software-defined storage.

Michael Azzopardi, editor of CIO Today UK, said:
“As business needs evolve, Red Hat’s determination to be a leading force in supporting enterprises of the future is evident in the significant steps it is taking to expand and advance its offerings. Of the award contenders, it stood out as an organization that is not only adapting to what CIOs need now, but actively planning for what will be needed in the future.”

Red Hat continues to flourish, and this award celebrates that. More importantly it is testament to the powerful momentum of open source. We thank everyone at the company and in the wider open source community for growing together to achieve great things in the last twelve months and hope that, with your help, we can have an even bigger impact next year.
