08:45 Technical Breakout Session

Real time data with Red Hat JBoss Data Virtualization and Red Hat JBoss Data Grid

Cojan van Ballegooijen, JBoss Evangelist

Red Hat JBoss Data Virtualization is a data integration solution that sits in front of multiple data sources and allows them to be treated as a single source, delivering the right data, in the required form, at the right time to any application and/or user. As the volume and variety of data continues to grow, organisations are challenged to deal with the complexity, heterogeneity and speed of information, while meeting the needs of the business owners for agility and near real-time information and decisions. This technical session will demonstrate the new features of Red Hat JBoss Data Virtualization 6.3 based on real-life scenarios.

Application Modernization

Erwin de Gier, Sogeti

Competitive pressures are forcing companies to look for the ways to differentiate and innovate their business using technology. Business and user demands are changing at a fast pace. In a digital business it is no longer about saving money on IT. It is no longer about IT operating with greater efficiency. Instead it is about how IT can be used as a differentiator to boost business growth, to create better offerings and to deliver a better user experience. Digital transformation is essential to be disruptive and / or sustain in disruptive competition. In this session we will present our approach for achieving digital transformation which is based on the three pillars of change:

  • Architecture: Transforming applications to a cloud native architecture
  • People and processes: Combining skills in a DevOps approach
  • Platform: how you deploy and operate will be different: OpenShift container management Platform

API's eat digital transformation for breakfast

Manfred Bortenschlager, Director of API Market Development, 3Scale

In this talk Manfred will describe APIs as the winning ingredient of every digital transformation activity. APIs by themselves, however, are naked and API providers do not have enough control and visibility to build sustainably successful strategies on top of APIs. This is where API management solutions come in, which allow to fully leverage the benefits of APIs. Manfred will discuss some core API strategy concepts, the main business drivers for using APIs and API management, and several customer success stories. In addition, Manfred will also show how the 3scale API management neatly integrates with the benefits of other Red Hat solutions such as JBoss Fuse, OpenShift or Red Hat Mobile.

Critical Role of Ansible on SNAP "Service Now Automation and Analytics Platform"

Henk van den Elsen & Peter Huisken, NXP

In the fast moving business environment, NXP is faced with several challenges. Execution speed, manual remediation, unauthorized changes, as well as scalability issues are becoming a bottleneck for moving forward. NXP envisions automated IT operations, where incidents are automatically detected and remediated, customer IT demands are fulfilled instantly, and negative impact due to IT maintenance is ruled out. We present the architecture and high level design of the "Service Now Automation and Analytics Platform" (SNAP), and the critical role of the Ansible IT automation tool in this platform.

G-Cloud: The programme, the realization, and the challenges

Dirk Deridder, Programme Manager G-Cloud, SMALS

The G-Cloud programme is a joint initiative of several Belgian Government Agencies. A common roadmap of these agencies leads the way towards the development of a community cloud "of" the government, "by" the government. The ulterior objective is to realize a number of synergies to improve IT efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and 21st century digital transformation. All realizations occur in close collaboration and partnership with the private sector. Whilst the 1st generation of G-Cloud services have been operational since March 2015, there are still many new developments and challenges ahead. In this presentation we briefly outline the G-Cloud initiative and zoom in on a number of challenges we (and probably the rest of the world) encounter.

How to activate your free Single Sign On?

Hartmut Benz, First8

Red Hat Single Sign-On (SSO) is a great tool for Identity and Authentication Management and part of the JBoss suite. It is free to use if you have a JBoss Subscription. SSO is based on the Keycloak project and enables you to secure your web applications by providing Web SSO capabilities based on popular standards such as SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect and OAuth 2.0. One of our customers is CRV, an innovative international agricultural organization with focus on cow farming improvement and in this area a market leader in the Benelux. At CRV, we build software that enables farms to connect cows to the Internet to monitor their behavior and help farmers make better decisions about resources. Join us for a presentation and demo about farmer’s dilemmas, and how Java, Red Hat SSO (also in combination with eHerkenning) and devices came together to fundamentally re-imagine an age old way of farming.
