It’s an exciting time to be part of Red Hat’s OpenShift team. A few weeks ago, we announced that the public Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering had surpassed two million user applications, and introduced hosting in Europe. Earlier this week, we announced the expansion of OpenShift Marketplace, bringing even more functionality to OpenShift Online developers.

As OpenShift Online continues to evolve, adding expanded functionality and developer offerings, the public PaaS now also offers a dedicated node-based hosting service through an annual subscription plan for enterprise users. This new subscription enables customers to host their applications in an isolated, dedicated environment that is fully managed and hosted by Red Hat. The Dedicated Node subscription complements OpenShift Enterprise, our generally available, on-premise platform as a service solution. This solution is fully hosted and managed as a part of our OpenShift Online service.

Node-based hosting within OpenShift Online enables customers to isolate these nodes from other OpenShift Online nodes and users, accessing customized gear sizes and VPN services from within their own datacenter. The new node-based hosting service can be purchased as 2vCPU or 4vCPU virtual machine units. In addition to vCPU and storage capabilities, the new node services include full Platform-as-a-Service functionality from OpenShift Online and professional Red Hat Support. This new hosting option provides node isolation on top of OpenShift’s dedicated gear isolation, enabled by security features in Linux, bringing configurable security groups specific to customers’ dedicated nodes.

The OpenShift Online Dedicated Node Service is available as an annual subscription in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Learn more about OpenShift Online and subscription plans here.
