In just a few days, the premier enterprise open source technology conference, Red Hat Summit, will descend on the Moscone Center in San Francisco and attendee calendars are beginning to fill up. From May 8-10, Red Hat customers, partners and technology industry leaders from around the world will come together for a high-energy week of innovation, education and collaboration.
One of the best parts of Red Hat Summit is seeing customers share how they are using open source to innovate faster and create modern and agile technology platforms, and how Red Hat enables them to do it. Next week, we’re excited to feature more than 110 customers, including 14 on the main stage during keynote sessions.
Here’s a sneak preview of what you can expect to hear in those keynotes.
Red Hat president of Products and Technologies, Paul Cormier, will take the stage with several customers to discuss their hybrid cloud strategies deployments, including:
Amadeus, a leading provider of innovative technology solutions for the global travel industry, will share how it is setting itself up for application consistency, scalability and portability and more choice for future cloud deployments by using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and Red Hat OpenStack Platform on-premise.
Citigroup, Inc. has emerged as a leader among banks adopting cloud computing, making the Red Hat Summit conversation surrounding its hybrid cloud strategy, technology selection, cloud security, successes and future plans a can’t miss.
RBC, one of Canada's biggest banks, has created a business advantage by embracing technology like virtualization and containers. During Red Hat Summit, we’re excited to hear how this 150+ year old bank is utilizing transformational technologies to increase its agility and better deliver digital capabilities to its customers.
When senior vice president of Engineering, Matt Hicks hits the Red Hat Summit main stage, you can expect to hear more about Red Hat’s hybrid cloud ecosystem, including how it is enabling customer success:
Cathay Pacific, an international airline based in Hong Kong, will share how it focused on accountability, agility and collaboration as it developed its hybrid cloud strategy. Using several Red Hat technologies, such as Red Hat CloudForms, Red Hat Ansible Automation, Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, it saw successes including a shift from solution-centric to value-centric IT, improved IT staff satisfaction, greater ability to meet customer needs more quickly, and greater flexibility to deploy workloads where it makes sense.
Nike, a leading designer, marketer and distributor of athletic footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories, set out to move its core applications to the cloud. At Red Hat Summit, Nike will share how it is using a hybrid cloud strategy to continue to build a seamless marketplace throughout the world and how Red Hat’s support gave it the tools to transition to the cloud.
It is no secret that the business landscape is changing and companies should adapt in order to better thrive in a digital world. Culture plays a critical role in digital transformation and several customers will join Red Hat CEO Jim Whitehurst on the main stage to share culture changes that have better positioned them for business success, including:
BBVA, a global financial services group headquartered in Spain, set out to transform how it provides and maintains IT services by providing a single global cloud platform that is fully automated, self-service and data-centric, combining real-time and batch data. To succeed with this initiative, BBVA also led a cultural transformation in order to become more agile and respond to market changes more quickly.
Dirección Nacional de Migraciones de la República Argentina (DNM) is tasked with manually processing the millions of people entering and exiting Argentina every year and to support this mission, it developed a real-time platform that enables data-driven decision making and AI-assisted analysis. DNM found that shifting to a DevOps culture was a differentiator in its success, giving its developers a broader choice of technologies to use instead of a traditional top-down hierarchy.
IAG, general insurance group headquartered in Sydney, embarked on a project to simplify its data infrastructure and deliver better customer experiences, taking an open, meritocratic approach. From the ground up, teams were more involved in the planning and decision-making process, resulting in a positive impact that has changed the company culture.
Lufthansa Technik, a leading provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul for civil aircraft, its engines and components, has a vision for its future that includes a web-based platform that could be an aircraft condition monitoring solution for troubleshooting, fleet and record management, and predictive maintenance. Building its platform required engaging employees in the project in a new way by giving them more input and information, which enabled them to work faster, more efficiently and with an increased sense of purpose.
UPS, a global leader in logistics, realized that it needed to engage employees in a different way to drive innovation and performance. By increasing transparency and providing more access to information, UPS succeeded in its culture change and helped its employees work better together and react more quickly to changes.
One of the powerful things about open source is how it can catalyze communities and impact the greater good. This year, Red Hat Summit attendees will hear from some customers who are striving to do just this, including:
Boston Children’s Hospital developed the ChRIS Research Integration Service, a cloud-based medical image platform developed as part of a collaborative effort between Red Hat, the Massachusetts Open Cloud (MOC), and Boston University. Powered by Red Hat technologies, what began as a project to facilitate the organization, 3D visualization, and collaboration around medical imaging amongst researchers has evolved into an open source platform with the potential to democratize the development of image processing software within an ecosystem following common standards, rather than disparate silos.
UNICEF Innovation embarked on an eight-week Red Hat Open Innovation Labs residency with a goal of using open source technology to support humanitarian research in real-time. This led to significant advances in the School Mapping Project, a completely open source data analytics solution that enables UNICEF to make better decisions, more quickly and ease the integration of new data.
Chris Wright, Red Hat vice president and chief technology officer, will be joined on stage by customers that have embraced DevOps to help speed delivery, including:
Hilton created a DevOps culture rooted in collaboration to enable rapid delivery using Red Hat Ansible Automation and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform to create a modern microservices platform for its property management application.
Linux containers and Kubernetes continue to be a main focus and Red Hat has been proud to be a leader that is bringing this technology into the enterprise. We are excited to have 21 customers speaking on how they are using Red Hat OpenShift, Linux containers and Kubernetes to deliver modern, cloud-native applications.
If you’re joining us at Red Hat Summit, there are many other can’t miss Red Hat Summit sessions.
