Whether it's running a live betting platform, monitoring water quality in real time, or training up employees for network automation, customers are turning to Red Hat to help improve their IT.
Betting on Red Hat OpenShift… literally
You hear the expression "betting" on platforms all the time. But Bilyoner Interactive Services in Turkey is really betting on Red Hat OpenShift by deploying a live betting platform on OpenShift with Red Hat Ansible Automation.
When live sports betting was legalized in Turkey, Bilyoner Interactive Services needed a supported, scalable, and highly available technology foundation to support this new service. By migrating from community open source to Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Bilyoner used container and microservices technology to quickly create and launch its new live betting platform. As a result, the company reports a five-fold increase in traffic and close to 100% service uptime.
Bilyoner used its new Red Hat environment to create a container- and microservices-based application and launch its live betting service in just four months — well ahead of its deadline. The application consists of close to 100 microservices, running on more than 600 containers deployed across 16 on-premise servers. Building a foundation for network automation development
ANZ Bank New Zealand is the country’s largest financial services group and one of its largest companies, providing banking, asset finance, investment, and other services under a variety of brands.
When they planned to start taking an approach focused on automation and site reliability engineering, they engaged Red Hat Open Innovation Labs for a six-week engagement focusing on building network automation and collaboration skills. While working with Open Innovation Labs, ANZ Bank teams focused on automation with Ansible and agile development practices, including continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD). Additionally, the bank’s participants found new ways to connect with other teams for more effective work.
Dave Wasley, technology area lead, infrastructure for ANZ Bank New Zealand, says, "We established strong technical and agile foundations to better tackle challenges. We moved from ticket handling to thinking about automation first, demonstrating inventive thinking in network automation development and infrastructure. Red Hat Open Innovation Labs gave us the tools to successfully transform with inspiration and confidence.“

Using real-time data for smart water kiosks
BrianzAcque provides water and sewage utility services to nearly 900,000 citizens in Italy. The utility provider operates 66 self-service Case dell’acqua water kiosks across the region. To centralize management of its smart kiosk network and provide real-time data on water quality to citizens, it wanted to establish microservices-based IT foundation and found its answer using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
“We primarily wanted to ensure citizens had access to high-quality water, but the project has since evolved into a means to keep up to date with our services. We want to do more to communicate water quality,” said Enrico Pivari, head of the Case dell’acqua project at BrianzAcque. “We recognized a microservice architecture would provide the best approach. Each microservice can communicate with others yet deliver a consistent experience and user interface.”
By creating a centralized data platform based on Red Hat OpenShift and AWS as the foundation of its microservices-based architecture, BrianzAcque can more effectively and accurately communicate water quality information to customers. Public service announcements, including opening times and local events or traffic conditions, can be transmitted via the kiosks. For more on BrianzAcque's journey, including reduced staff time and costs, see their case study.
But wait, there's more!
