Each year, we at Red Hat celebrate our brand, culture and people. Called: “We Are Red Hat Week,” we take time to honour our achievements and accomplishments of helping Red Hat to grow from a Linux-only company to one that offers a full suite of software products.
In the spirit of an open collaboration and giving, the Red Hat Storage team along with other Red Hat colleagues gave back to the community by volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
As the pictures show, our team contributed to packaging 18,415 pounds of apples and pears into 719 boxes to help feed the hungry.
The Second Harvest Food Bank has been feeding families in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties since 1974, making it one of the largest food banks in the nation. Over the past year, they’ve distributed nearly 52 million pounds of food, half of which is fresh produce.
In addition to providing food to approximately 250,000 people per month, SHFB helps educate families about nutrition and making healthy food choices. They also distribute food to local non-profits like shelters, soup kitchens, counseling centers, educational organizations, and community-based safety net organizations that are uniquely positioned to aid local children, adults, elderly, and the disabled.
To learn more about how you or your company can contribute, visit the SHFB website.
