It was only two weeks ago that we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Red Hat Summit. Held for the first time in San Francisco at the Moscone Center, Red Hat Summit 2014 welcomed north of 4700 attendees (an event record!) for four days devoted to all things open source. From business and IT executives to enterprise architects, system administrators and developers, Red Hat attendees attended more than 160 instructional sessions, 18+ hands-on labs, keynotes, live demonstrations and customer panels.

The opening day was kicked off with a keynote from Red Hat president and CEO Jim Whitehurst who focused on the event's theme, ADVANCE. Whitehurst emphasized our commitment to partners, customers, and communities to continue pushing our technologies to develop the IT solutions needed in today's enterprise. He illustrated that no one vendor will have all the answers. But rather, the solutions that companies will need will come from an ecosystem of users, vendors, partners, service providers, and more, working and collaborating together to get to the cloud. As he said, it will take "all hands on cloud" to get there.

Throughout the event, Red Hat shared a variety of announcements chief among them was news around new Linux Containers innovations. Our expectation is these innovations will streamline application delivery and orchestration across bare metal systems, virtual machines and private and public clouds. And based on the response we've seen since the announcement, we are glad so many share our excitement.

In addition, we were pleased to announce that we're teaming with Dell to deliver an enterprise-grade, OpenStack private cloud solution, and working with SAP to bring data management offerings to OpenShift.

Red Hat Summit 2014 showcased a wide array of Red Hat customers including the Red Hat Innovation Award Winners. Centre for Railway Information Systems; Nanyang Technological University; Hennepin Home Health Care; and OSDE Binario, were each recognized for their use of Red Hat solutions to solve IT obstacles. Using such technologies as Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure and Red Hat JBoss Middleware, these companies' covered a wide range of industries, including transportation, education, and healthcare. SEDESOL Oportunidades, an organization that strives to improve human development and well-being among the people of Mexico, was ultimately named the 2014 Red Hat Innovator of the Year.

In the partner pavilion, 96 partners showcased their technologies and offerings with Red Hat. From IBM, Cisco, Dell, HP, Intel, Accenture and SAP, to NetApp, Symantec, Amazon Web Services, Docker, Google Cloud Platform, attendees were given access to a rich array of IT experts.

While Red Hat Summit 2014 has come to a close, there are still ways to catch up on the activities you may have missed. Check out the following -

From everyone at Red Hat, a sincere thank you to all of our communities, partners and customers for helping us make Red Hat Summit 2014 the best Summit to date. We look forward to seeing you all again next year, as Red Hat Summit heads back the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, June 23-26, 2015!
