About the event
The Containers and Cloud-Native Roadshow is a unique hands-on experience for building, deploying, and managing containerized cloud-native applications using industry-standard open source technologies. The event is focused on educating and enabling attendees based on their role (Ops or Dev), and you'll learn how Red Hat® OpenShift changes the way you run mission critical applications. Learn how a secure container platform from Red Hat and Intel enables fast and flexible application delivery using microservices and DevOps methodologies. Together, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and the Intel Xeon Scalable platform provide a high-performance, security-focused container foundation. With it, you can deliver modern, high-value applications and features faster.

Know before you go
Operations Track:
Participants should have a systems administration/storage/operations focus, with the following suggested tools and/or skills:
- An SSH client on your laptop (PuTTY for Windows preferred)
- Competency on the Linux® command line
- A general/high-level understanding of Linux containers (e.g., Docker, CRI-O, etc.)
- A general/high-level understanding of authentication (e.g., LDAP/AD)
Developer Track:
Participants are expected to be familiar with general application development concepts and have basic skills with the following:
- Java programming
- Apache Maven build tool
- Linux command line
- Containers and Docker

Requirements
For all attendees:
- A laptop with Windows, Linux, or MacOS

- An SSH client is required with the ability to use private key authentication.
- Windows users are recommended to use PuTTY.

- A modern browser with JavaScript and cookies enabled

Shawn has been a Red Hat Certified Engineer for more than a decade with a diverse background in programming, security, HPC cluster architecture, and storage systems.

Michael Dahlgren

Mike Dahlgren is a Senior Cloud Solution Architect for Red Hat, the world's leading provider of open source, enterprise IT solutions. Mike brings almost 20 years of open source experience in an extensive career that spans private, public, and government agencies. His accomplishments have ranged from developing and implementing mission critical systems in airline flight coordination and scheduling to terrorist bomb tracking and counter intelligence.
He received his MBA from the University of Nebraska and leverages his business aptitude and IT experiences to develop comprehensive solutions around digital transformation and end to end automation. Currently Mike works with and advises many of the top Fortune 500 organizations with a combined net worth of over a trillion dollars. His passion for evangelizing the benefits of open source has never wavered as he focuses on addressing future digital problems in an ever accelerating business ecosystem.

Ravi Gupta
Solution Architect Specialist
Red Hat
Ravi Gupta, solution architect specialist for OpenShift and Containers for Red Hat, is responsible for working closely with customers to develop, deploy and manage Containers. He recently returned to Red Hat after a brief position as a sales engineer with Mesosphere, a company that helps automate production operations for containers. Previously, he worked for Amentra, [a provider of systems integration services], where he worked in consulting services. Ravi resides in Austin, Texas.
