We make moving to public clouds easy

Bring your own subscriptions to the cloud

Eligibility

To be eligible for using Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions with Cloud Access, you must:

  • Move only unused Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server, or both subscriptions; have either a Standard or Premium service level agreement; and have a direct support relationship with Red Hat.
  • Agree to Red Hat Cloud Access subscription terms and conditions of use on the enrollment form.
  • Complete all information on the enrollment form and submit it to Red Hat for approval prior to moving any subscriptions to a Red Hat Certified Cloud Provider.

You may move any number of Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions.

Note: If you have Red Hat Enterprise Linux offerings supported by third parties or hardware original equipment manufacturer (OEM) offerings, these are not eligible for use in the cloud. Red Hat Academic Program customers and desktop or client offerings are not eligible, but you may buy Red Hat products on demand directly from one of Red Hat's Certified Public Cloud Providers.

Guidelines

Follow these guidelines to determine the conversion of your on-premise subscriptions to the cloud:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions are sold on a socket-pair or virtual-instance basis, depending on what makes the most sense to count. They are stackable, so you can use them like building blocks. For example, 1 subscription covers a socket-pair or 2 virtual instances on a Red Hat Certified Public Cloud. 2 subscriptions cover 2 socket-pairs or 4 virtual instances.
  • You can move legacy subscriptions. Please check the Cloud Access enrollment form for specific SKUs that are eligible.
  • Your account number from a cloud provider can be associated with only 1 Red Hat account. Up to 3 cloud provider account numbers may be associated with a single Red Hat account.
  • Access to cloud instances are valid only while currently subscribed to Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server or Advanced Platform Premium subscriptions.
  • Updates are automatically provided to you for Red Hat product images that are certified and supported by Red Hat. They include any critical errata or updates so that you always have the most current Red Hat product images.
  • Red Hat supports only base images and packages provided within the cloud, whether contained in the base images or cloud update service. Packages supported outside of the cloud, for example GFS, under standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription terms are not supported in the cloud.
