Red Hat Cloud Access
At Red Hat, we recognize that the cloud is one of the most fundamental shifts in IT technology to occur in decades and that existing business models must evolve to meet the demands of the new cloud business and operational requirements. Red Hat is the first company to bring enterprise-class software, subscriptions, and support capabilities all built in to business and operational models that were designed specifically for the cloud.
Guidelines
- One Red Hat Enterprise Linux Premium subscription can be used to run one concurrent instance in the cloud, regardless of Amazon virtual instance size (small, large, extra-large, etc.).
- The virtualization entitlements included with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Platform do not transfer into the cloud. One subscription equals one instance.
- A single subscription may only be used for one virtual machine at a time. Only one virtual instance may be run simultaneously in all Amazon EC2 region, datacenters, and machines.
- One Amazon EC2 account number may be associated with only one Red Hat account. Multiple Amazon EC2 account numbers may be associated with a single Red Hat account.
- Access to cloud instances are valid only while currently subscribed to Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server or Advanced Platform Premium subscriptions.
- Base images and updates:
- Red Hat provides certified and supported base images for use within Amazon EC2 Cloud. These images are maintained by Red Hat and updated periodically to include any critical errata or updates.
- Red Hat provides a cloud update service within Amazon EC2, enabling customers to install and update packages within the cloud. Customers choosing to run a virtual private network, such as Amazon VPC, are not able to connect to this update service while the virtual private network is activated and must use an on-premise Red Hat Network Satellite Server or other update service.
- Red Hat only supports provided base images and packages provided within the cloud, whether contained in the base images or cloud update service. Packages supported outside of the cloud, for example GFS, under standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription terms are not supported in cloud.
