Kernel-based Virtual Machine
Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor, built directly from the KVM hypervisor, uses the performance, scalability, and ecosystem of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux® kernel for virtualization. So your virtual machines are powered by the same high-performance kernel that supports your most challenging Linux workloads.
KVM is a robust open source project supported by some of the leading vendors in the software industry, including:
- Red Hat
- IBM
- SGI
- AMD
- Intel
- HP
- Novell
oVirt
The growth of an open virtualization ecosystem requires more than just the hypervisor. So we joined industry leaders in creating oVirt. This project has been seeded with assets from Red Hat by open sourcing Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization.
Open Virtualization Alliance
Comprised of leading virtualization, datacenter, and cloud solution providers, the OVA's mission is to foster adoption of open source virtualization technologies, and drive innovation and interoperability within the enterprise software market for open virtualization solutions. The OVA is an important advocate for organizations who want a true open source and interoperable virtualization solution.
