Darren Eveleigh
"I have been able to give more advanced servers to a developing country, and have contributed to the advancement of a small-school setting."
System administrator
Darren Eveleigh is a Red Hat® Certified Engineer (RHCE®) Systems Administrator and programmer at Lethbridge College in Canada. Eveleigh has used Red Hat solutions on mail servers throughout his previous jobs, but he currently exercises his RHCE certification through a volunteer program called I.T. Dominica. "This program has required me to plan, install, and deploy 18 servers in schools across an economically challenged island," said Eveleigh. "These Red Hat servers reside in financially challenged school systems and assist students to learn technologies that would normally be out of reach."
Eveleigh first decided to get involved in the RHCE program because of its intensity. "When I was looking into programs, the Red Hat offerings were rated the top Linux® certification program, not to mention, it provided the best hands-on, real-world training," said Eveleigh. "It has been an outstanding program and I've enjoyed my involvement." He also attributes part of his success in the I.T. Dominica volunteer program to the knowledge he has gained through RHCE. "I have been able to give more advanced servers to a developing country, and have contributed to the advancement of a small-school setting." If you'd like more information on the I.T.
