Offering the most to customers is something every company strives to accomplish. Guri Chattha, a Security Administrator at TELUS, was able to help make this possible due to his success with the Red Hat® Certified Engineer (RHCE®) certification. TELUS is the second largest telecommunications company in Canada and a market leader in Hosting. TELUS offers a full suite of services including shared, dedicated, virtual and utility computing services and hosts several thousand Windows and Unix servers for its clients. Chattha decided to get involved with RHCE as he identified, at an early stage, the market opportunity to expand TELUS' portfolio and offer clients an open source solution. "I identified an opportunity to include Linux® offerings in our Hosting Services to our marketing and management teams in 2002. After review, I was given approval to create a suite of Linux offerings so our clients had an open source option available and services were launched in early 2003," he said.
When deciding to get involved in the RHCE program, Chattha's decision wasn't difficult. "Red Hat is easily the Linux Enterprise platform. I wanted to help my organization and my career and therefore took it upon myself to push our Hosting Services team to bring the Red Hat managed hosting service to reality," he said. He also noted that the creation of the Managed Hosting Linux offering is one of his biggest accomplishments. He attributes it to his RHCE involvement.
