Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Model Context Protocol

Address IT skills gaps and solve issues faster with Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Satellite, and Red Hat Lightspeed. MCP Server for Red Hat Enterprise Linux is now available with read-only analysis in developer preview.

AI-assisted Red Hat Enterprise Linux upgrades with Red Hat Ansible® Automation Platform

Combining pre-upgrade analysis, our Leapp tool’s execution capability, and Ansible Automation Platform’s ability to automate remediation and other processes, allows you to upgrade with confidence and less manual effort.

Satellite 6.19 is now generally available and includes new features to prioritize security management and vulnerability services. 

Announcing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.2 and 9.8

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.2 and 9.8 will offer advanced AI capabilities, enhanced security, and simplified IT operations. The new versions will include:

  • A new, optional, command-line AI assistant, “goose”, with advanced functionality and improved visual output to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux command-line assistant to simplify management.
  • New bootc enhancements with image mode as well as an enhanced image builder command-line interface (CLI).
  • Red Hat Certificate System 11.0, available alongside Red Hat Enterprise Linux, introduces quantum-resistant signatures to help organizations meet emerging NIST standards and resist "harvest now, decrypt later” attacks.
  • A simplified, single-step conversion and upgrade path from Red Hat Enterprise Linux clones to Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Also introduces a new Upgrade System Role for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.2 and certified Ansible Automation Platform content.
  • Production ready developer tools including Python 3.14, Go 1.26, LLVM 21, Rust 1.92, PostgreSQL 18, and more.

Enhancing stability and predictability with premium benefits

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Extended Life Cycle, Premium is a new offering that combines the benefits of a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Premium subscription with up to 14-year lifecycles for the latest minor release. Red Hat Enterprise Linux Long-Life Add-On will be available soon, and it will provide a continuous, yearly support path for organizations that require fundamental infrastructure to remain unchanged.

Solve problems faster with MCP server for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Satellite, and Red Hat Lightspeed

Now in developer preview with read-only analysis, MCP server for Red Hat Enterprise Linux can enable a new era of faster problem solving and closing the skills gap by connecting Red Hat Enterprise Linux and LLMs. This approach to Linux management lets administrators manage their systems using natural language and automated, multi-step workflows without sacrificing security. With Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.2 comes access to goose, an open-source agent that can be used (with other AI agents) to connect multiple MCP servers into a single command line assistant.

  • Extended Update Support (EUS) that provides a 30-month bridge to plan the transition to Satellite 7.
