Why a multivendor virtualization strategy?

As the number of virtual workloads surpasses the number of physical workloads with the maturing of the virtualization market, IDC data indicate that as many as 1/3 of virtualization customers are planning to use multiple hypervisors over the next year.

Join us as featured speaker Gary Chen, IDC research manager for cloud and virtualization system software, outlines IDC's findings on why customers are pursuing a multivendor strategy for virtualization software. He'll also explain how Red Hat, with its release of Red Hat® Enterprise Virtualization 3, is quickly emerging as a leading strategic alternative and moving into the broader virtualization market, supporting a mix of Linux® and Microsoft Windows workloads.

We'll explore:

  • Key factors driving customers to adopt a second source for their critical virtualization infrastructures.
  • Impact and momentum of the Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) and oVirt open source virtualization technologies.
  • Why Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization is emerging as a leading strategic alternative.
