Red Hat Unveils Red Hat Linux E-Commerce Server
Durham
United States, July 27, 1999Product Pairs Stable Web Server and Security Functions with E-Commerce Tools for E-Business
Red Hat®, Inc., a leading developer and provider of open source Linux-based operating system (OS) solutions, today announced the Red Hat Linux E-Commerce Server. Red Hat's latest business package combines the award-winning stability and scalability of open source solutions, Red Hat Linux 6.0 and the Apache Web server with all of the security and e-commerce tools necessary to use Red Hat Linux in e-business applications.
The Red Hat Linux E-Commerce Server integrates RSA Data Security's 128-bit encryption engine with the emerging industry standard Apache Web server. In addition, the Linux applications CD included with the Red Hat Linux E-Commerce Server contains Red Hat Linux 6.0 programs and a separate e-commerce directory. Included in the directory are a variety of complete and versions of e-commerce software from Hewlett-Packard, CCVS, MiniVend, and more.
"The Red Hat Linux E-Commerce Server is an ideal solution for Internet service providers (ISPs) and small businesses that would rather focus their attention on sales than their Web server," said, Tim Buckley, Chief Operating Officer for Red Hat, Inc. "The Red Hat Linux E-Commerce Server levels the e-business playing field with symmetrical multi-processor support (SMP) for up to four processors, security, scalability and stability for businesses of any size."
Red Hat Linux E-Commerce Server also includes:
- Apache ASP and DAV modules for development on multiple platforms and Web page management without ftp.
- The Netscape Roaming Module to enable the use of the Apache Web server as a Netscape Roaming Access server.
- The Squid proxy and cache server
- The Webalyzer Web server log
- A $25 discount for site digital certification purchased from Thawte Consulting.
