MEDIA ALERT: Red Hat Releases Updated Red Hat Linux Operating Systems for IBM's eServer Platforms

Expanded hardware and language capabilities are featured in these upgrades for IBM's eServer line of enterprise servers.

Red Hat, Inc. (Nasdaq:RHAT), the world's premier open source and Linux provider, today announced the availability of new releases of Red Hat Linux for IBM's iSeries, pSeries, and zSeries enterprise server platforms.

The new releases, Red Hat Linux 7.1 for iSeries (64 bit) and Red Hat Linux 7.1 for pSeries (64 bit), now include extended support for 32-bit applications running within a 64-bit native environment. Red Hat Linux 7.1 for zSeries continues support for both 64-bit and 31-bit applications.

Additional hardware platforms have been added to those models supported by Red Hat Linux:
  • Red Hat Linux 7.1 for iSeries (64 bit) includes support for iSeries Models 270, 820, 830, 840, and 890
  • Red Hat Linux 7.1 for pSeries (64 bit) includes support for pSeries Models p620, p640 and p660
  • Red Hat Linux 7.1 for zSeries includes support for zSeries models z900 and z800

Red Hat Linux for all eServer platforms now support English, German and Japanese languages natively. All Red Hat Linux for eServer products are offered in either a Standard 12x5 with 1 business day response, and Premier 24x7 with 2 hour response.
