Red Hat Announces New European Headquarters
Munich Germany
United States, October 6, 2004
"Red Hat has clear focus on new global markets," said Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales, Alex Pinchev. "Europe is a strategic market and the new headquarters in Munich will bring focus to growth areas in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as a renewed focus on core markets in Western and Central Europe and the United Kingdom."
The European Headquarter office, located in a technology corridor on the eastern side of Munich, includes Sales, Services and Marketing management for Red Hat Europe and a training center. Werner Knoblich is the Director of EMEA.
"The market for Linux is expanding rapidly. We are seeing new customers in Central and Eastern Europe and are creating extensive partnerships with regional resellers and distributors to meet this need," said Mr. Knoblich. "We anticipate significant growth in the coming years as Red Hat invests in Europe."
Red Hat Europe was established in 1999 in Surrey, United Kingdom. Red Hat's offices in Europe originally included Guildford and Cambridge UK, Stuttgart Germany, Paris France, Milan and Rome Italy, and Cork Ireland.
In the past 12 months, Red Hat has added offices in Munich, Sweden, Netherlands and Spain and has expanded its partner network in Europe to include a growing list of over 45 distributors and over 30 value-added resellers in Western, Central and Eastern Europe.
