Red Hat Appoints New Country Manager for Spain and Portugal

Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced the appointment of Santiago Madruga as Country Manager for Red Hat’s operations in Spain and Portugal. Madruga will be responsible for the development of the Company in the Spanish and Portuguese markets and will coordinate and execute the Company’s strategy for the region. His objectives will include the continued strengthening of Red Hat’s leadership in the Iberian open source market to enhance the delivery of value to enterprise customers.

“My plan is to help more companies and public sector and government bodies in Iberia to benefit from Red Hat’s enterprise-ready open source solutions. Already, Red Hat solutions are providing greater reliability, security and scalability to thousands of organisations around the world at a fraction of the cost represented by proprietary software alternatives”, said Madruga.

Madruga has dedicated most of his professional career to the Information Technology sector. He joins Red Hat after eight years at Parametric Technology Corp., where he held various positions, including his most recent role as Regional Manager. As a senior executive with Parametric in Iberia, Madruga has led various teams as well as designed and executed company business plans. Madruga has also held several European positions in leading companies such as Cisco Systems and Lucent Technologies.

Madruga holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in European Business Studies from Humberside University, UK and a Master’s degree in e-Business from Instituto de Empresa.
