AMD's Barcelona processors will serve as the foundation for building a full line of virtualization solutions. This session will review the next generation fundamental features of the Barcelona processor and will outline why system software will benefit from these features. Also highlighted will be the architecture of Nested Paging virtualization extension in Barcelona: one of the pillar's of AMD's Trinity Initiative. Nested Paging reduces virtualization overhead, which is normally associated with today's solutions. Trinity is targeted at delivering open, standards-based, innovative, and industry leading platform virtualization, security and manageability technologies to the AMD platform, by providing both, guidance and enabling technologies, such as AMD-V, to the ecosystem.
