SystemTap allows developers and administrators to write and reuse simple scripts for deep examination of live Linux system activities. Data may be extracted, filtered, and summarized quickly and safely to enable diagnoses of complex performance or functional problems. Eugene Teo will introduce the SystemTap tool, outline how the tool works, walk-through the SystemTap scripting language, and share several war stories of how SystemTap was used to solve interesting real-life problems.
