Ruby would be the most well-known open source software originally from Japan. However, it is not the ONLY open source software from Japan. In this talk, the speaker will introduce major open source projects in Japan, the activities of local communities, and funding supports by government agencies. He will also talk about a few technical topics from his viewpoints as a governmental funding manager of Ruby-related projects and the lead of JBoss Javassist project.
