One of the most well known cities in the United States, Chicago prides itsaelf on finding a better way to do things - from strengthening public education to inventing Cracker Jacks, lowering crime to building the first skyscraper. In the same spirit, this year they've begun migrating their IT systems to Red Hat Enterprise Linux to improve performance and save costs.
When Pottawattamie County migrated mission-critical tasks from Microsoft Windows to Red Hat Enterprise Linux, they saw increased reliability and control at a significantly lower cost. "From a technical standpoint, we've found that Red Hat Enteprise Linux and other open source solutions could almost always meet the business needs and performance of proprietary alternatives," said Thomas Broniecki, Director of IT.
