Demand & Internal Guidance Quick Reference Guide

There will be two scenarios in which you will be asked to respond to a specific demand. In both cases, the logged demand will trigger an e-mail directly to you with further instructions. Please see the use cases below for advice on how to proceed.

Scenario 1: Application is already listed , but not certified on a particular version/platform or language.

example:
Currently listed: Partner A, Application X on RHEL 3 for x86 is supported
Demand identified for: Partner A, Application X on RHEL 4 for x86

  1. E-mail alert will direct you to login to the Software Catalog.
  2. From your login page, click "View Demand".
  3. You will see a list of all requests entered against your existing applications ("Registered Applications"), as well as requests for applications not currently included in your organization's profile ("Unregistered Applications").
  4. In this scenario we are considering demand for Registered Applications, so click on the first Registered Application listed.
  5. You will see a full list of requests logged against this application. Click on the first ticket to review the request.
  6. If the requested combination is one your organization already supports, please update your application profile accordingly. To do so, click "Update Application Profile"
    • Enter your changes, and click "Save".
    • Click "View Demand" to return to the full list of requests against this application. Or click "Vendor Start" then "View Demand" for a full list of all requests in your organization's profile.
  7. If the requested combination is one you do not yet support, please provide feedback as to when you expect to be able to support it or why it is not supported at this time. To do so, click "Create Guidance".
    • The Guidance page allows you to provide certification forecasts on the requested version/platform or language combinations, as well as any other combination.
    • Use the drop boxes to indicate when you expect to be able to support an indicated combination. You can be as specific as you'd like to be. Give the date/month/year, just provide the month/year, or select a particular quarter. If a product has reached end of life or there are not plans to support a specific combination, you may click "Not Available".
    • The "Guidance Journal Notes" allows you to provide any additional information you feel is necessary.
    • When complete, click "Save Guidance".
    • Click "View Demand" to return to the full list of requests against this application. Or click "Vendor Start" then "View Demand" for a full list of all requests in your organization's profile.

Scenario 2: Application requested is not yet listed

Currently listed: Partner A supports Applications X, Y, and Z.
Demand identified for: Partner A, Application G

  1. E-mail alert will direct you to login to the Software Catalog
  2. From your login page, you can either access these by:
    • scrolling down to the list of applications where they will appear with a status label of "Unregistered" or
    • clicking on "View Demand". From the Demand screen you will see a list of all requests entered against your existing applications ("Registered Applications"), as well as requests for applications not currently included in your organization's profile ("Unregistered Applications").
  3. In this scenario we are considering demand for Unregistered Applications, so click on the first Unregistered Application listed.
  4. You will see a full list of requests logged against this application. Click on the first ticket to review the request.
  5. If this application is one your organization already supports, please update your application profile accordingly. To do so, click "Update Application Profile".
    • Enter your changes, and click "Save".
    • Click "View Demand" to return to the full list of requests against this application. Or click "Vendor Start" then "View Demand" for a full list of all requests in your organization's profile.
  6. If this application is one you do not yet support, please provide feedback as to when you expect to be able to support it or why it is not supported at this time. To do so, click "Create Guidance".

Red Hat Software Catalog Permissions

Partners should note that information provided in Demand & Internal Guidance is exclusively visible to a subset of Red Hat professionals and the ISV partner who has provided that information. It is important to know that ISV partners can only see information specific to their company. In addition, only information on applications that already support Red Hat Enterprise Linux is made visible to the public. These applications are listed as "Active" in your partner home page.
