Red Hat Establishes Beijing Business Practice

With support from key industry partners Red Hat establishes Red Hat Beijing to better serve the growing market for Linux and open source software in China.

Red Hat (RHAT), the world's leading provider of open source software to the enterprise, today announced the opening of Red Hat Software (Beijing) Co., Ltd. With this new corporate presence Red Hat will work to enable the open source market in China to learn more about open source and how to leverage the full benefits of open source within their organizations. Working with partners such as HP, IBM, Intel and Oracle Red Hat's goal is to provide a high value, low cost choice in computing for the people of China.

One of the first initiatives for Red Hat Beijing will be to support Linux and open source education by making the Red Hat Academy program freely available to students. Red Hat Academy is Red Hat's acclaimed training program designed to enable teachers to train students to be Linux proficient. Red Hat is working in partnership with Tsinghua University and Nanjing University to establish the program in China. With the training program Red Hat hopes to not only educate students on open source fundamentals, but also inspire new open source development and entrepreneurialism.

Red Hat will also work with key industry partners such as BEA, Dell, HP, IBM, Intel and Oracle as well as Chinese business partners to serve the needs of the Chinese market. Collaborating with these strategic partners Red Hat will deliver the choice to customers of which solution together will build the best possible open source architecture to suit their particular needs.
