Red Hat appoints open source pioneer Dave McAllister as Gluster and Big Data Community Lead

Today we are pleased to announce that Dave McAllister has joined Red Hat to lead the Gluster Community and big data community initiatives in the Open Source and Standards (OSAS) group. Dave was most recently director of open source and standards at Adobe Systems, working with various standards organizations and leading the company’s open source initiatives.

Recognized as a pioneer in enterprise computing with more than 25 years of technology and open source experience, Dave is a well-known innovator, leader and entrepreneur. He co-founded cloud computing company Cassatt Corporation and has held executive and board member positions at several open source start-up companies. Earlier in his career, Dave held senior technology and business management positions at large global enterprises including Digital Equipment Corporation, Silicon Graphics (SGI) and NEC.

It is an exciting time for Dave to join Red Hat as we work on growing our open software-defined product portfolio and open source community leadership in this area. He will be responsible for working with our Gluster and big data communities to help provide conduits into Red Hat and to assist in raising the awareness of innovative solutions in storage and in big data.
