Automation orchestrator: Compose multimode workflows without losing governance

Jump to section

As automation practices mature, workflows naturally grow beyond what linear playbook chains can handle. Multi-team coordination still runs through tickets and chat messages. Governance has to be manually rebuilt for every new tool. And AI agents are arriving faster than the guardrails needed to trust them in production.

Automation orchestrator is a new add-on for Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform 2.7 that addresses all three. It gives automation teams a visual canvas for building workflows that bring task-driven, event-driven, and AI-driven automation together — under a single governance model, on the foundation of Ansible Automation Platform they already trust.

In this webinar, experts from the Red Hat Ansible Technical Marketing Team will provide technical deep dives on multiple aspects of this exciting new add-on. They'll explore a variety of use cases, demonstrate how new features work, and provide valuable insight into how the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform experience is evolving. There will be a Q+A portion at the end to ensure that every attendee leaves with a better understanding of what's now possible with Red Hat Ansible workflows.

Key takeaways:

  • How to orchestrate multimode workflows: The new visual workflow canvas (GUI or YAML) brings task-driven playbooks, event-driven triggers, logic nodes like switch and loop, and AI agent reasoning together in one place — no more stitching tools together outside the platform.
  • How to extend value without migration: Your existing AAP job templates, collections, and EDA rulebooks show up as native workflow nodes on day one. Build more complex operations on top of what you already have, not from scratch.
  • How to safely integrate AI and human approval: Task agents handle LLM reasoning at specific workflow steps while configurable approval gates and automated policy checks keep humans in control of what actually runs in production.
  • How to enforce enterprise governance across tools: RBAC, step-level secrets management, and centralized audit trails carry across every step — whether you're orchestrating Ansible playbooks, REST APIs, or multi-cloud CLIs.
