Vony Tjiu

We’re delighted to welcome Vony Tjiu to Red Hat as a country manager for Indonesia. In her new role, she will be responsible for Red Hat’s business operations in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest growing emerging markets.

Tjiu has extensive experience in the enterprise software space, with more than 15 years in IT. Prior to her current role at Red Hat, she served as commercial director at Microsoft Indonesia as well as their Inclusion lead. She has also held management roles at Lenovo and IBM.

We caught up with Tjiu to hear her perspectives on open source and Red Hat, and her insights on leadership.

Why did you choose to join Red Hat?

I have been always impressed by how Red Hat has evolved and grown as a company while staying committed to their mission. Technology plays a critical role in improving people's quality of life and I believe I would be able to contribute with Red Hat and its technology. The other things that Red Hat also impressed me with is their open and inclusive culture. Inclusion is the core value that I embrace in my leadership.

What do you look most forward to in your new role?

Indonesia has some really dynamic companies and one of the most internet-friendly markets for commerce in the world. I’m looking forward to working with companies from across industries, whether in traditional businesses or in emerging product segments, to support their strategic initiatives via open hybrid cloud.

How can Red Hat and open source technology support the digital transformation of companies in Indonesia?

Digital transformation is a continuous process that includes technologies and ways of working. Some of the ways Red Hat brings value as a partner is via our experience with hybrid cloud, and our roots with the open source community. The open source community in Indonesia is thriving, with many developer groups and advocacy going on at the grassroots level.

I am excited to bring together such expertise locally while continuing Red Hat’s tradition of working with companies as they try to digitize, move to market faster, or focus on resilience. We’re already doing this with enterprises of all sizes in Indonesia. I’m really excited to see how that will continue.

How would you define leadership, and what kind of leader would you like to be?

I’m an approachable leader who embraces compassion and empathy and I treasure open communication. I want to create an inclusive environment where everyone can show up as their true and authentic self. A rising tide lifts all boats. By including more diverse viewpoints, we can make something that is greater than the sum of our parts.

The team here has already built something amazing, and I’m excited by the challenge of continuing to be a trusted partner for companies across Indonesia and getting us to that next level of growth.
