전국 대학 및 대학원생에게 메인프레임ㆍ리눅스 환경 체험기회를 주기 위해 마련된 이번 행사에는 총 583명이 참가했다.
8일 진행된 시상식에서 공동 우승자인 이인성씨와 박한주씨에게는 부상으로 각각 레드햇과 IBM의 마케팅 인턴십 프로그램 참여 기회가 주어졌으며, 이 밖에도 레드햇 교육 및 IBM 교육 수강권 등 다양한 상품이 수상자들에게 제공됐다.
또 수상자 중 최연소인 신봉기군(단원중 3학년)은 홈페이지 제작에서 훌륭한 기량을 선보여 3등상을 수상했다.
심사위원인 고건 서울대 교수는 "이번 콘테스트에 참여한 인재들의 놀라운 실력에 감탄했다"며 "이번 기회를 통해 많은 학생들이 오픈소스인 리눅스가 높은 보안 및 안정성을 갖춘 메인프레임 플랫폼에서 구동될 때의 이점을 충분히 체험했을 것"이라고 말했다.
