Red Hat, Inc. (Nasdaq: RHAT), the world's premier open source and Linux provider, today announced that the Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) program received first place rankings in three out of eight quality categories in Certification Magazine's January 2002 Salary Survey. In five other categories RHCE ranked in the top three programs in IT, making RHCE the quality leader overall in the survey.
In the survey conducted by Fairfield Research Inc., 3,939 IT professionals were asked to rate their training and certification experiences in terms of quality of learning materials, instructors, comprehensiveness of programs and related tests, overall educational quality, perceived price and value, quality per dollar, and overall quality.
On a scale of one to five, with five being excellent and one being poor, Red Hat scored highest and captured first place in the following: Top 10 Certifications for Overall Educational Quality (given a 4.13 score out of 5.0) Top 10 Certifications for Quality of Tests/Exams (given a 4.42 score out of 5.0)
In the Overall Quality category, on a scale of zero to 30.0, combining the rankings of individual elements such as quality of instructors and exams, Red Hat was again rated number one in the top 10 list, with a 24.4 score.
The 2002 rankings for quality are just the latest in a series of independent reviews and surveys released by Computer Reseller News, CertCities, Certification Magazine, and TechRepublic, all of whom rank RHCE as one of the 10 top IT certifications for quality, value, salary increase, and/or level of interest among IT professionals.
"For the RHCE program to receive the most top rankings and place first for overall quality in only its third year of existence is an enormous accomplishment," said Pete Childers, vice president of global learning services at Red Hat, Inc. "IT pros looking to improve and validate their skills on Linux can expect world-class value and consistency from Red Hat's training and certification offerings, available worldwide from Red Hat. This is a further validation of our performance-based focus, and a huge added value for more than 4500 who have earned RHCE!"
In December 2001, Red Hat also launched a new benefit for Red Hat Certified Engineers worldwide called RHCE Connection. RHCE Connection provides exclusive access to special offers, discounts and professional resources for Red Hat Certified Engineers from Red Hat's Certification Central site at www.redhat.com/training
