Today, we are pleased to announced the general availability of Red Hat Directory Server 10, the latest version of Red Hat’s open source, network-based registry server. Built on the technologies delivered by the 389 Directory Server project, Red Hat Directory Server offers a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)-compliant server that centralizes critical application information, simplifies user management and enhances security across an entire organization.
As a tool for building business applications, Red Hat Directory Server provides
an excellent, open choice for storing customer information, authentication credentials and other sensitive, business-critical information. It delivers the scalability and centralized information control required in today’s enterprise IT climate across all levels of business relationships, from partners to suppliers to customers, providing a single, flexible repository for all manner of information.
Red Hat Directory Server 10 is supported across Red Hat’s hybrid cloud portfolio, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and is also supported on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud. New features in this latest version increase performance, improve service and data management and refine security processes, including:
- Improved range search performance
- Perl-based scripts now support more secure connection methods
- Enhancements to the overall password policy
- Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL) mapping fallback allows for additional mappings to be checked after a failed attempt
- Improved referential integrity plug-in configurations for handling references to deleted entries
