Red Hat Launches ISV Program for JBoss Enterprise Middleware Offerings

ISVs can now offer to its customers Red Hat developer and production support for newly introduced JBoss Enterprise Platforms and Frameworks.

RALEIGH, CAROLINE DU NORD -

Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), the worlds leading provider of open source solutions, today introduced a new partner program that allows European ISVs to bundle Red Hats new JBoss Enterprise Middleware offerings and extend full subscription support for them to customers. Under the new program, the ISV solution will be covered by Red Hat Developer Subscriptions, which provide customers with expert advice and development support. Through this program, Red Hat is ensuring that all end customers have access to high quality support for JBoss Enterprise Middleware and continued confidence in JBoss-based ISV solutions.

Todays announcement follows on the heels of Red Hats recent shift from supporting individual JBoss components to supporting integrated JBoss Enterprise Platform and Framework distributions. The new program eliminates the risk of ISVs developing on and shipping unsupported JBoss.org community releases and instead provides JBoss Enterprise Middleware as a supported, central development platform. All installations of JBoss from ISV partners developing on JBoss Enterprise Middleware can now either ship with a support subscription or with a Level 3 support agreement that covers all of the partners customers.

“Its a well-known fact that support is the number one concern of CIOs when it comes to using open source solutions in production. Red Hat has eliminated this concern for its Red Hat Enterprise Linux and JBoss Enterprise Middleware solutions, and is now closing customer protection gaps via its JBoss ISV base”, said Petra Heinrich, Director of Channels for EMEA at Red Hat. “By embedding support subscriptions with their shipments, ISVs developing business solutions for JBoss can now be entirely supported by Red Hat, and in turn extend Red Hat support to customer installations.”

By becoming a JBoss ISV Partner and integrating JBoss support with their solutions, JBoss ISVs enjoy the exclusive benefit of extending the Red Hat Open Source Assurance to customers. The Red Hat Open Source Assurance program provides certain assurances to customers in the event that there is an intellectual property issue with Red Hat branded subscription products. “ISVs have been instrumental in making JBoss the mass market open source middleware leader, but theyve often had to overcome customer concerns about support”, said Werner Knoblich, General Manager for Red Hat EMEA. “Now Red Hat is extending vendor support protection to their customers. The fact that Red Hat is now providing both ISV and developer support via our ISV partners will reinforce customer confidence and drive business decisions in favor of JBoss and our partner solutions.”

JBoss Enterprise Middleware is the leading open source middleware platform, and includes category-leading technologies such as JBoss Application Server, Hibernate, and JBoss Seam. With its business-friendly LGPL license, outstanding quality, and high performance, JBoss has become the runtime platform of choice for developers and businesses across the globe.

JBoss ISV partners can immediately capitalize on this opportunity, create new revenue streams, and benefit from being a part of Red Hats extensive ecosystem. For more information, including program details and registration, please visit http://www.europe.redhat.com/partners/jboss/
