Red Hat Launches Operations In Mexico

In addition to offices in Brazil and Argentina, the Company continues its growth in Latin America.

RALEIGH, CAROLINE DU NORD -

Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced the launch of its direct operations in the City of Mexico. The opening of the Mexico offices contributes to the Company's great growth potential in Latin America.

The new Red Hat offices in Mexico, together with the offices of Brazil and Argentina, prove our commitment to a continued global expansion in international markets, said Gabriel Szulik, General Manager for Latin America at Red Hat. We believe that the market will continue to provide growth opportunities for our solutions.

At present, Red Hat Mexico is hiring Mexican executives with wide experience in the country who will successfully offer Red Hat solutions to businesses in the Mexican market. The Company's wide range of technologies and solutions include Red Hat Enterprise Linux, JBoss, Global File System and Cluster Suite, as well as training and consulting services.

The opening of the Mexico offices is intended to support Red Hat's large portfolio of clients in Mexico, said Juan Manuel Ruiz, Red Hat Director for Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and the Andean countries. These clients include Grupo Minero Peñoles, two of the largest banks in Mexico and various telecommunications companies. The opening of these offices will also meet the requirements of banks, telcos and the government served by business partners with ample experience in Red Hat technologies and services.

There is an important growth in the adoption of open source solutions by the private sector, the government and universities and academic institutions in all the region, said Gabriel Szulik. Government, education and other vertical markets, where Red Hat has a great expertise, consider that these open source solutions provide real benefits and value.

Red Hat has several global partners including HP, IBM, Dell, Intel, AMD, Oracle and SAP, distributing companies and a number of business partners across Mexico. This office will be mutually supported by our business partners and will provide commercial, technical and technological support, even to partners in the interior of the country, through wholesalers like Grupo Team and Tallard Technologies, said Juan Manuel Ruiz.

Red Hat already has licensed training centers in Mexico aimed at facilitating the access to our technology, said Gonzalo Clotta, Manager of Global Learning Services at Red Hat. Red Hat's certified professionals have received first-class training and are highly recognized in the Linux world.

Given that we are not only providers of open source solutions but also active users, and have been providing support to this community for many years, we have witnessed the remarkable growth of the demand for our servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux, said Octavio Marquez, Director for Latin America of the business unit of Enterprise Storage and Servers at HP. Today, over 2,500 developers in the company are focused on Linux and open source projects and we have more than 200 products with embedded open source software. This commitment continues to grow and matches the commitment of Red Hat that, with its arrival in Mexico, proves to be a leader in open source technology, as evidenced by the growth, maturity and successful progress of its products in Latin America.

Red Hat is an important business partner of IBM. Its presence in the country will further strengthen our business partners' share and is a good sign, undoubtedly, of the accelerated expansion of the Linux dynamic market where the Blue Giant offers both its solutions and products, said Miguel Ambrosi, Director of Business Partners and Alliances at IBM Mexico.

Red Hat is an important business partner for Dell around the world and we congratulate them for the opening of their new direct operations in Mexico City. It is an important step in the region and an opportunity to leverage the potential of an emerging market, said Rafael Chávez, Direcor for Advanced Systems Group of Dell Latin America. We look forward to continue working together in Mexico, as we do in many other countries. Our alliance with Red Hat allows us to provide the best open source options and solutions to our local customers.

The Mexico offices will be supported by Red Hat global support centers in Argentina, Brazil, Raleigh, India, Singapore, England and Australia. Such support centers were created to provide integral service, training and technical assistance coverage to Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America.

The Company's presence in Latin America is evidenced by its success with important clients such as Peñoles in México, SERPRO, the Peruvian Judicial Branch, the Minister of Health of Buenos Aires and Bradesco. In this region, the Company also has a network of over 80 partners.
