Red Hat Academy has partnered with academic institutions around the world to provide the next generation of IT talent with free access to a range of Red Hat’s training courses and certification exams. The program creates an environment where students can access training through their higher education institutions, and take advantage of several other benefits like certification exams and access to our talent network for potential career opportunities. The curriculum involves hands-on instruction across platforms, application services, and cloud technologies built with input from Red Hat development, technical support, and field consulting teams.
Red Hat Academy learners can now access select IBM SkillsBuild cybersecurity courses as part of their membership, at no additional cost, without a separate login. The offerings include courses such as:
- Enterprise Security in Practice,
- Getting Started with Threat Intelligence and Hunting, and
- Security Operations Center in Practice
These self-paced courses are designed to teach fundamental skills and provide industry-relevant content, equipping students with the knowledge needed to excel in today’s fast-evolving tech landscape. Once a course is completed, students can receive a digital credential through Credly.

How to access these courses
As a Red Hat Academy student, you access courses through the Access Student Resources section within Red Hat Academy Learning Platform. When accessing the content for the first time, select the “Create New Account” option. This prompts you to accept the IBM SkillsBuild terms, and then automatically pulls your account information from Red Hat Academy Learning Platform through a system integration. Once completed, follow the on-screen instructions to access the course content.
Who is eligible?
All Red Hat Academy students currently enrolled in, or newly added to, classes created through Red Hat Academy on the Learning Platform are granted immediate access to this content.
University students who are not enrolled in Red Hat Academy, can also access other courses for free through IBM SkillsBuild.
