Red Hat expands ASEAN presence with new Indonesian office

Company sees significant opportunities for open source technology in market touted “a star on the horizon”

JAKARTA -

JAKARTA – INDONESIA—13 May 2014—Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced the opening of its Indonesian office in Jakarta. The new office is located in the business hub of the city, providing Red Hat with a centralized location through which to manage its Indonesian business.

Customers opportunities
IDC Indonesia, observed that the country remains “a star on the horizon of a tumultuous global recovery”. (1) The leading market research firm also observed a paradigm shift in the thinking of CEOs in Indonesia, where a majority of them view IT as a critical component for achieving efficiency and productivity against rising competition and costs in the coming years

Local interest in open source technology has grown across various industries in the country and is encouraged by Indonesian ministry's policy on open source adoption. (2) The opening of Red Hat's new office in Jakarta will provide even better support to new and existing customers and local businesses in their open source journey.

Red Hat is also pleased to announce the appointment of PT. Avnet Datamation Solutions as the company’s second distributor in Indonesia to support Red Hat’s customer network. PT. Avnet Datamation Solutions will support Red Hat’s efforts in working closely with industry-leading customers, such as PT. XL Axiata, Tbk. Red Hat provides these organizations with solutions that offer greater business value for their organizations through open source innovation. These solutions address cost-savings requirements and help advance IT architectures.

At last year's Red Hat Forum Jakarta, Red Hat received a great deal of positive feedback from customers, developers and partners. These partners, such as PT IT Group, and PT. Bajau Escorindo, Signma Cipta Caraka and Sinar Surya Teknologi, provide open source solutions to enterprises along with training and consulting services to address IT challenges for the modern datacenter.

Local talent pool
With the expansion, Red Hat also hopes to incubate, sustain and support local talent through Red Hat training offerings, with plans to further engage local OpenStack and open source usergroups and developer communities.
