Red Hat Honors Rafael Guimaraes as 2013 Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year

Guimaraes Recognized During 2013 Red Hat Summit

RALEIGH, N.C. -

RALEIGH, N.C. and BOSTON – RED HAT SUMMIT 2013 – June 14, 2013 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that Rafael Guimaraes, analyst at Petrobras, has been named the 2013 Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year. Red Hat certifications are earned by passing rigorous practical exams during which candidates must perform the real-world tasks required in production environments. The annual Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year awards recognize and honor the hard work, expertise, and ingenuity of those holding Red Hat certifications.

Rafael Guimaraes, a Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) and Red Hat Certified JBoss Administrator (RHCJA), has been working with Red Hat solutions for several years. At Petrobras, the largest oil company in Brazil and one of the largest in the world, Guimaraes conducted several key projects. The projects enhanced IT services that significantly reduced the time spent installing new Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems. He combined his RHCE skills with PHP programming to develop an environment that provides collaborative remote 3-D Linux sessions. Additionally, Guimares applied his RHCJA skills to create a secure, optimized, and efficient Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform installation.

Entries received for the 2013 Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year contest spanned Red Hat certifications including Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat Certified Datacenter Specialist (RHCDS), Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA), Red Hat Certified Virtualization Administrator (RHCVA) and Red Hat Certified JBoss Administrator (RHCJA). Guimaraes was selected as the 2013 Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year by a panel of experts in the field of business and open source technology, and was honored at the Innovation Hour during the Red Hat Summit in Boston on June 13.
