It’s been a busy week for the Red Hat team, especially our cloud computing and middleware groups. Following our quarterly earnings results reported last evening, Red Hat’s cloud and middleware teams are presenting an update on our cloud technology momentum today via an online webcast that will kick off at 10am PT / 1 pm ET. Here’s a sneak peek at what we’ve been up to this week and what you’ll hear about on our webcast today. To join the live broadcast of the webcast, or to watch the replay that will be available for the next 12 months, visit here.
JAXconf
Our middleware team is attending JAXconf in San Jose to present updates on key JBoss Community projects as well as Red Hat OpenShift. As a sponsor of the event, the JBoss team has a booth at the show and is holding interactive sessions from key developers such as Dan Allen, Gavin King and Jay Balunas on community projects JBoss Drools and Drools Fusion. One of the sessions offers attendees a sneak preview of the upcoming JBoss Application Server 7.
GigaOM Structure
Our cloud team is attending the sold-out Structure event taking place June 22-23 in San Francisco. We’re a sponsor of the event and will have a booth on the main floor. Be sure to stop by the booth to see a demo of our Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering, Red Hat OpenShift, and get information on our Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) product, Red Hat CloudForms. Our PaaS Master, Issac Roth, will be presenting on a panel on Thursday, June 23 at 11:45am PT to discuss PaaS: Potholes Ahead? and Bryan Che, senior director of Product Management at Red Hat, will be hosting a workshop on Rethinking Application Delivery Models on June 23 at 10:45am PT. We’ll also have Scott Crenshaw, vice president and general manager of Red Hat’s Cloud Business available to give you more information about our cloud strategy onsite.
Capgemini on Red Hat Cloud
During the webcast, attendees will hear from Ron Tolido, CTO Application Services Continental Europe at Capgemini, a Red Hat partner in Europe. Ron will discuss how the entrance of Red Hat OpenShift PaaS into the market provides new opportunities and benefits to Red Hat partners, customers and the industry and community as a whole.
Red Hat Cloud Architecture training course launched
Today we announced that we’ve launched a new Red Hat Training course focused on building skills to launch world-class private cloud deployments using Red Hat technology and solutions. The Red Hat Cloud Architecture course is designed to train participants on a range of skills needed to plan, build and manage private clouds. It brings together the full suite of Red Hat products, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, JBoss Enterprise Application Platform, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, Red Hat Network Satellite, JBoss Operations Network and Red Hat Enterprise MRG. Red Hat Cloud Architecture (CL350) is the first published course in Red Hat's cloud curriculum and is expected to be followed this fall by an additional course focused on Red Hat’s IaaS product, Red Hat CloudForms.
Red Hat Enterprise MRG 2.0 launched
Today we also announced the delivery of Red Hat Enterprise MRG 2.0, including expanded capabilities spanning the product’s Messaging, Realtime and Grid components. Red Hat Enterprise MRG 2.0 includes significant advances in performance, scalability and management, and also adds support for the latest version of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform, enabling customers to gain the advances made in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1.
JBoss Application Server 7, coming soon
Coming soon, the final version of JBoss Application Server 7 is expected to offer a cloud-ready architecture that delivers significant performance and productivity improvements. As the final version of the Community project and precursor to JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6, JBoss Application Server 7 is intended to offer a modernized framework for Java developers and follows the launch of the early access program announced in May. Integration of JBoss Application Server 7 with Red Hat OpenShift is planned for July, and promises to further Red Hat’s cloud strategy providing developers with the freedom to build applications wherever they want – in the cloud, on-premise or in virtualized environments.
