Red Hat, Inc. (Nasdaq:RHAT), the leader in developing, deploying and managing open source solutions, today announced the first course in a planned series of courses on Red Hat Database, a powerful relational database management system based on PostgreSQL.
The first course in the curriculum, Red Hat Database Essentials, is an intensive four-day course that covers topics ranging from installation and SQL fundamentals through more advanced topics such as transactions and stored procedures.
The new course, scheduled for late November in Europe, will appeal to database developers, Web and application developers and system administrators migrating to Red Hat Database or PostgreSQL, as well as current users of Red Hat Database or PostgreSQL who want to enhance their skills on Red Hat Database.
Red Hat Database Essentials will provide the foundation for additional courses, such as database administration, Web development and application development, as well as migration and co-habitation with Oracle and DB2. Red Hat Database runs on Red Hat Linux, but PostgreSQL users on other platforms will also benefit from attending the new Red Hat courses.
"This new course makes Red Hat Database a complete solution as the de facto standard for open source database development," said Jasmine Huxtable-Wright, Red Hat EMEA Training and Business Development Manager. "Developers for mid-range database applications will be able to build out and standardize on Red Hat Database, and have a clear migration and co-habitation strategy with Oracle or DB2."
