Future-proof, Reliable, Secure: Architecting the Grid with Enterprise-Ready Open Source

(Grid Edge Technologies Knowledge Hub- Booth #2041, Exhibit Floor)

The modern electric grid faces unprecedented challenges, including the integration of variable renewable energy sources, the rise of distributed energy resources, and the increasing threat of cyber attacks. This talk explores how enterprise-ready open-source technologies can address these challenges and pave the way for a more resilient, sustainable, and intelligent energy future. We show how established technologies that drive other mission-critical industries such as finance and telco can be leveraged to enhance grid reliability and resilience. By enabling rapid response to grid disturbances, automating critical operations, and implementing robust security measures, open-source technologies can help ensure continuous and reliable power delivery as they provide the flexibility and scalability necessary to manage the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources, facilitating the development and deployment of advanced grid control systems, energy storage solutions, and demand-side management programs. Fostering innovation through open-source collaboration and accelerating the development and deployment of new grid technologies, open-source solutions can drive the transition to a more decentralized and intelligent grid architecture.
