There’s an old saying that the only constant in the technology world is change. Like it or not, the pace of change for IT professionals is going to rapidly increase in 2025 and the coming years.
Let’s ponder a simple question: What is the DeepSeek moment in your industry?
For several years, the IT industry believed that the only way to achieve breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (AI) was to build the biggest clusters, spend the most training dollars, and make large language models (LLMs) proprietary. But as new LLMs emerged with open source and open use licenses, creativity was unlocked in ways that reshaped both economic and technological paths for AI.
It was a moment for not only the technology industry, but potentially every industry that plans to incorporate AI into their future business. Just as important, it was a moment that came quickly and unexpectedly, causing businesses around the world to react. And it was a moment that made many people rethink the rules and dynamics around AI.
Depending on your industry, your “DeepSeek moment” might have recently happened, or it might be right around the corner. Autonomous driving, faster drug discovery techniques, low-cost satellite launches, expansive energy demands, new building materials, new regulations and many more innovations will rapidly impact industries around the world. These changes can be opportunities to disrupt markets, or situations in which your status quo is being disrupted.
As IT leaders, we not only have to be prepared for change, but we also have to be prepared to address the second and third order impacts that changes bring. This means we need agile systems, as well as systems that can accommodate new innovations, robust automation and security that scales across any cloud environment.
Is your organization prepared to roll out 1000s of connected systems once the prototype is successful?
Is your organization able to manage the transition of an AI application from the public cloud back into your private cloud to comply with an international regulation?
Is your organization able to systematically and autonomously manage a security threat at 2am, across multiple platforms?
The businesses that succeed during times of rapid change are the ones that build their critical capabilities on flexible platforms; able to adapt and adjust as the needs of the business evolve. They are able to incorporate new innovation in ways that are easy to adopt and easy to manage. They recognize that accelerating time-to-market means a well coordinated set of teams that can manage scalability, security and stability. And they understand that rapid change is a strength of great systems, and they embrace the challenges of being out in front of the changes.
Read this ebook to learn more about how an adaptable software foundation can help your organization prepare for future business opportunities.
