Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is now validated on the new AWS Graviton5-based Amazon EC2 M9g instances, now available in public preview. At Red Hat, we aim to deliver a solid infrastructure that serves as a foundation for the important work you do. We're committed to doing this during the early phase of rollout, which provides ample time for users to experiment with new infrastructure. By validating RHEL on M9g instances during the public preview phase, we're giving technical leads and architects the green light to start testing workloads, from high-performance databases and web-scale applications to microservices and AI inference, on the latest silicon.
The AWS M9g website provides details of the M9g instances, but here are some of its key features:
- Improved performance: M9g instances provide up to 25% better compute performance than the previous generation.
- Optimized workloads: Experience up to 30% faster database performance and 35% faster web application speeds.
- Massive scale: With 192 cores per chip and a 5x larger L3 cache, you can scale up demanding workloads with reduced inter-core latency.
What does this mean for you?
- Early access, enterprise stability: Begin benchmarking your RHEL-based environments on Graviton5 today. RHEL is optimized for this new architecture.
- Sustainability and savings: Combine RHEL's efficiency with Graviton5's energy-conscious design. Meet sustainability goals while reducing compute costs.
- Advanced readiness: Your RHEL workloads will be ready to go on day one of general availability of Graviton5.
Get started today
The M9g instances give us a glimpse into the future of cloud computing. Request access to the AWS Graviton5 preview and start exploring the performance gains for yourself. And stay tuned as we continue to work toward full support.
