RALEIGH, N.C. - —
Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced the availability of the Virtualization Specialist status for its existing EMEA partners. By extending its virtualization expertise into its broad partner network, Red Hat customers can further benefit from reduced hardware and operational costs and increased flexibility and agility.
Red Hat’s EMEA partner community is already showing support for the Virtualization Specialisation. Several partners, including Redpill Linpro and Kelway, are seizing the opportunity to become Red Hat virtualization domain experts.
“As a long-term Red Hat partner, we continue to evolve and innovate alongside Red Hat and our customers”, said Per Andreas Buer, Business Area Manager for Infrastructure Services at Redpill Linpro, a Red Hat Virtualization Specialist focused on the Nordic region. “The cost savings achievable by implementing open source software are mirrored throughout the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization portfolio and we are pleased to be able to offer counsel and expertise to help our customers meet their objectives in regard to virtualization.”
The Virtualization Specialisation is available to those partners that have demonstrated expertise in Red Hat's virtualization offerings at both the sales and technical level. The requirements for partners looking to gain accreditation include the provision of two customer references for implementation services using Red Hat virtualization products, proven implementation experience with other virtualization products and environments, two Red Hat Certified Virtualization Administrators (RHCVA), and two Red Hat Certified Virtualization Salespersons (RHCVSP) within the organisation.
“As an accredited Virtualization Specialist, Kelway gets access to exclusive tools and support from Red Hat, including marketing materials, local expert help and prioritisation for new virtualization business opportunities”, said Graham Layton, Vendor Relationship Manager at Kelway, a UK-based Value-Added Reseller. “Our business has recently seen a surge of interest in virtualization and Red Hat is supporting us to maximise on this opportunity.”
The Virtualization Specialist partner programme builds on the announcement in November this year of the general availability of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization for Servers, including a standalone hypervisor based on KVM technology and server virtualization management tools.
“We provide specialties within the Red Hat EMEA Partner Program to assist our partners in meeting the demands of their customers”, said Petra Heinrich, director of Channels and Partners in EMEA, Red Hat. “As virtualization continues to be established as an important enterprise technology, our partners are important to the success of implementations and building out our footprint across EMEA. This is a great opportunity for the Red Hat channel partners to become leaders in their markets with differentiated, cost-effective virtualization technology.”
Red Hat will be hosting its annual Red Hat and JBoss EMEA Partner Summit in Valencia, Spain from May 2nd to 5th, 2010. The Summit will focus on the value of Red Hat's partner ecosystem and collaboration and will bring together Red Hat and JBoss distributors, system integrators, ISV's, OEM's, resellers and training partners.
