Milano, 4 settembre 2012 – Red Hat, Inc. (Nasdaq: RHAT), leader mondiale nella fornitura di soluzioni open source, annuncia che Ferrotec, leader mondiale nelle tecnologie basate sul liquido magnetico Ferrofluid - utilizzato nei motori multi-fase, nelle valvole e nel raffreddamento dei trasformatori - ha implementato Red Hat Enterprise Linux e Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization sulla propria infrastruttura. Attraverso questa combinazione di tecnologia Red Hat, Ferrotec sta incrementando scalabilità, flessibilità e prestazioni, riducendo nel contempo i costi operativi.
Con sede in Giappone, il gruppo Ferrotec è presente in tutta Europa. In linea con la crescita dell’azienda e le conseguenti esigenze di business, la sua infrastruttura IT si è ampliata con l’acquisto di nuovi server e di una maggiore capacità di memoria. Quando però l’azienda ha raggiunto la capacità massima dei sistemi IT, le prestazioni hanno cominciato a diminuire, creando l’esigenza di un’infrastruttura tecnologica moderna in grado di soddisfare le esigenze di business di Ferrotec.
A metà 2011, l’infrastruttura IT e i sistemi tradizionali di Ferrotec potevano essere amministrati solo con grosse difficoltà. Per questo, il team IT dell’azienda, in accordo con il management, ha dato il via ad un processo di modernizzazione con il passaggio all’infrastruttura virtuale.
Ferrotec ha valutato possibili soluzioni alternative insieme a GONICUS, un provider di servizi IT con sede ad Arnsberg, in Germania, che da anni lavora con Ferrotec. GONICUS, Red Hat Advanced Partner, è specializzato in strategie di infrastruttura e virtualizzazione, oltre ad essere uno dei più importanti service provider indipendenti per il software open source in Germania. Da quando Ferrotec ha cominciato a pianificare la sua strategia di migrazione, uno dei requisiti fondamentali per la nuova infrasrtruttura era quello di ampliare l’installazione esistente basata su Linux. Ferrotec ha trovato quello che cercava con OpenV3 di Magirus, tra i leader in Europa nella fornitura di soluzioni IT e valido distributore a valore aggiunto di Red Hat, con sede a Stoccarda. OpenV3 include soluzioni di Cisco, EMC e Red Hat in una strategia innovativa che si combina in un pacchetto di infrastruttura che può essere implementato rapidamente.
La nuova infrastruttura IT di Ferrotec ha assicurato notevoli benefici in aree quali amministrazione, servizi e manutenzione, specialmente se paragonata con quella precedente. Consolidando il parco server, Ferrotec prevede di ridurre i costi operativi, dato che lo stesso staff è in grado di supervisionare un numero più ampio di sistemi e applicazioni.
“Abbiamo analizzato altre alternative di virtualizzazione presenti sul mercato, ma l’insieme di funzionalità di gestione aziendale ad elevate prestazioni e il basso TCO garantiti da Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization hanno rappresentato la combinazione ideale per le esigenze dei nostri sistemi”, spiega Joachim Schwender, responsabile IT di Ferrotec. “Ora disponiamo di un datacenter pienamente funzionale con Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization a presiederlo. La nostra nuova infrastruttura virtuale ci consente di bilanciare le esigenze di prestazioni, flessibilità e amministrazione. Il rilancio delle nostre operazioni IT con Red Hat ci ha preparati al meglio per il futuro delle nostre attività di business”.
La nuova infrastruttura IT dell’azienda ha anche permesso a Ferrotec di mappare i processi di business più importanti in modo flessibile e altamente affidabile.
