The Red Hat Training and Certification team has curated several learning paths to help guide you in your journey to learn more about Red Hat OpenShift. In a previous post, we shared how to get started with the Red Hat OpenShift Platform Developer Learning Path. Today, we will focus on the OpenShift Platform Administrator learning path.

This path isn’t just limited to sysadmins who want to validate their Red Hat OpenShift skills. If you’re an architect looking to incorporate container technologies or a consultant (like myself) who might be new to containers, you may find this guide helpful as well.

The recommended prerequisite for all the courses below is the Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification. All of the following listed courses are online and self-paced.

Note: The courses have been ordered in a list of a suggested completion path.

  1. Deploying Containerized Applications Technical Overview (DO080): This overview is a series of on-demand online videos that introduce Linux containers and container orchestration technologies using Docker, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. This course is based on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.1.

  2. Red Hat OpenShift I: Containers & Kubernetes (DO180): This course expands on container technology and provides an overview of Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift. This course will also demonstrate proper management of containers and container images through hands-on experience, along with deploying and troubleshooting containerized applications on Red Hat OpenShift.

  3. Red Hat Certified Specialist in Containers and Kubernetes exam (EX180):
The Red Hat Certified Specialist in Containers and Kubernetes exam (EX180) is based on the DO180 course. This two-hour exam tests your skills and knowledge of the fundamentals of containers and Red Hat OpenShift, including the ability to find, customize, run, and manage containerized services in both stand-alone environments, and environments with both Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift.

  4. Red Hat Openshift Administration II: Operating a Production Kubernetes Cluster (DO280): This course will demonstrate how to configure, troubleshoot, and manage the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. This course provides hands-on training to review the installation of clusters, including configuration and day-to-day management.

  5. Red Hat Certified Specialist in Openshift Administration Exam (EX280):  The Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration exam (EX280) is based on the DO280 course. This intensive three-hour-long exam will test your knowledge, skills, and ability to create, configure, and manage a cloud application platform using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.

  6. Red Hat OpenShift Installation Lab (DO322):  Red Hat OpenShift Installation Lab (DO322) teaches essential skills for installing an OpenShift cluster in a range of environments, from proof of concept to production, and how to identify customizations that may be required because of the underlying cloud, virtual, or physical infrastructure.

This course is based on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.6.

  7. Red Hat OpenShift Administration III: Scaling Kubernetes Deployments in the Enterprise (DO380): This course demonstrates the deeper skills required to manage OpenShift clusters at scale to productively support a growing number of stakeholders, applications, and users. By teaching Digital Transformation concepts, this course can enable organizations to innovate faster by adopting containers through initiatives.
