Red Hat Summit기술의 가치: RHCE가 기업 IT 성과에 미치는 영향”을 주제로 발간된 IDC의 백서는 가상화 관리, 데이터 연동, 서비스 방식의 소프트웨어 (SaaS)등 복잡한 기업의 IT 환경에서 IT 담당자에게 요구되는 능력을 제시하고 실습으로 치러지는 레드햇 공인 자격증 소지자들이 가지는 강점을 소개한다.
IDC는 백서에서 지난해 리눅스 플랫폼이 서버설치 기준 15% 이상의 높은 성장세를 기록하는 등 세계적으로 리눅스 채택이 확산되고 있다고 밝히며, 리눅스 컴퓨팅이 고가용 컴퓨팅, IT 인프라 및 웹 인프라 워크로드를 뛰어넘어, 전사적 자원관리(ERP), OLTP, 의사 결정 지원 및 비즈니스 인텔리전스 등의 비즈니스 프로세스까지 처리 할 수 있어 앞으로 오픈 소스 프로젝트의 범위가 커지고 그 빈도 또한 증가할 것으로 보고 있다.

이번 발표에는 레드햇 공인 자격증 취득 인력을 확보한 기업들의 IT환경 개선을 다룬 사례 연구도 포함되어 있다. 전체 여행 예약 건수 기준으로 세계에서 3번째로 규모가 큰 온라인 여행 업체인 오르비츠(Orbitz)는 RHCE는 직원을 채용하고 유지하는데 중요한 도구라고 밝혔다.특히 RHCE 소지 인력들은 서버 관리를 위한 레벨 설정 및 접근 방식에 대해 이해도가 높고 표준 준수를 중요하게 생각하기 때문에 업무의 효율성을 높여준다고 말했다.
