Red Hat Fuse is an open source, lightweight enterprise service bus (ESB). Red Hat Fuse provides a certified enterprise integration solution with SAP, enabling Camel routes running in Red Hat Fuse to retrieve all business objects from the SAP business object repository (BOR), the metadata and documentation of their business application programming interfaces (BAPIs), and to invoke all the methods of a BAPI. In addition it provides a certified solution for invoking non-BAPI remote function modules (RFMs). The performance of Red Hat Fuse is certified to maintain multiple connections to SAP, handle the transfer of large amounts of data and to handle multiple concurrent calls to BAPI methods. In addition, Red Hat Fuse is certified to properly process any Unicode characters passed in remote function calls.
Red Hat Fuse’s enterprise integration solution with SAP consists of a suite of ten SAP Camel components providing direct communication between Camel routes running in Red Hat Fuse and SAP. The suite of SAP Camel components is divided in two sets. The RFC set of SAP Camel components provide communication between Red Hat Fuse and SAP using remote function call (RFC) protocols passing data as parameters to the calls. The IDoc set of SAP Camel components provide electronic data interchange (EDI) between Red Hat Fuse and SAP passing data in intermediate documents (IDocs).
The RFC set of SAP Camel components provide direct communication between Camel routes residing in Red Hat Fuse and BAPI methods, remote function modules and business applications residing in SAP using remote function calls. The RFC set of SAP Camel Components provide both outbound communication from Red Hat Fuse to SAP and inbound communication from SAP to Red Hat Fuse. These components enable Camel routes to invoke BAPI methods and RFMs residing in SAP while passing and consuming data as parameters to these function calls. These components also enable business applications residing in SAP to invoke Camel routes residing in Red Hat Fuse as RFMs while passing and consuming data as parameters to these function calls. The RFC set of SAP Camel components provide complete support for all three of SAP’s RFC communication protocols which include synchronous RFC (sRFC), transactional RFC (tRFC), and queued RFC (qRFC) communication.
The IDoc set of SAP Camel components provide direct communication between Camel routes residing in Red Hat Fuse and the application link enabling (ALE) subsystem within SAP by passing and receiving IDocs. These components enable EDI between Camel routes and SAP using IDocs.
Red Hat Fuse provides a robust, cost-effective, and comprehensive integration solution, enabling enterprises to easily connect their disparate applications, services, or devices to SAP in real time.
